My New Life Of Worship - May 31, 2009

Text: Acts 5:20 "Go, stand in the temple courts," he said, "and tell the people the full message of this new life."

Acts 2: 1-4, 42-47

John 4:23-24“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”
Hebrews 12:28"Let us be grateful and worship God in a way that will please him." TEV

I. THE HOLY SPIRIT HELPS ME TO WORSHIP GOD ACCURATLY
A. Many people create their own god. Ex 32:2-5, Acts 7:39-42


B. Our worship of God must be based on the truth of Scriptures.
John 16:13 “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.”
Acts 17:22-24

II. THE HOLY SPIRIT HELPS ME TO WORSHIP GOD IN PRACTICAL WAYS
Romans 12:1 "... offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God -- this is your spiritual act of worship"

A. These Spirit filled believers worshiped God by being devoted to the Word, fellowship, breaking bread and prayer. These four could be called the foundational building blocks of the New Testament church.

1. They were devoted to the apostles teaching.



2. They were devoted to fellowship.

Koinonia= partnership, participation, positive interaction, communication, communion, contribution, distribution & fellowship.



3. They were devoted to the breaking of bread.



4. They were devoted to prayer. Eph 6:18, Jude 20,
1 Cor. 14:15


CONCLUSION: The Holy Spirit wants to fill you so you can live a new life of worship to God.
